About LiverWare
LiverWare is an academic capstone project created for MASLD screening support and health education in the Philippines.
Why the project was created
The project helps Filipino adults organize educational screening information, learn about MASLD, and find practical tools that support informed conversations with licensed health professionals.
Who LiverWare is for
LiverWare is built for Filipino adults who want to understand their risk factors for MASLD (metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, formerly called NAFLD or fatty liver disease). It is most useful for people with excess weight, high blood sugar, high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol or triglycerides, or a family history of liver disease, since these are the factors the screening looks at.
MASLD often causes no symptoms in its early stages, which is why a structured look at known risk factors can help someone decide what to ask a doctor about. The screening can be started without an account; an account is needed to keep results, receive reassessment reminders, and use the other tools.
How the clinical content is built
The screening criteria follow published guidance: the 2024 EASL-EASD-EASO clinical practice guidelines on MASLD and the 2023 multi-society consensus that introduced the MASLD name and its cardiometabolic criteria. The full reference list is on the Sources and evidence page.
Scoring rules and boundary values are reviewed with consulting physicians. Some values are still under review, so each saved result records the version of the scoring rules it was calculated with. How LiverWare works describes each screening section and what it counts.
